Do the Hornets teams play an equal number of home and away games? How many travel weekends are there likely to be?
It is rare for our teams to play an equal number of home and away games - the reality is that players who live in Pittsburgh and desire to play "true" Tier I hockey (playing the most elite Tier I teams and participating in the top tournaments) must travel significantly in order to compete against the best teams and players in North America. For example, our teams travel to Detroit and Toronto (driving time about 4.75 hours) on a frequent basis to play against elite competition. Although it is necessary to travel extensively, the on-ice success of our teams through the years and the national reputation of our organization enable us to schedule "home and home" series with other Tier I organizations and most of our teams play a significant number of home games. Scheduling is done on a team-by-team basis and the number of travel weekends in any given season varies, but in general most of our younger teams will have approximately ten to twelve travel weekends per season and the older teams somewhat more.
